SALVIA Annual Start seeds indoors, 8-11 weeks before transplanting outdoors. Use a shallow dish or seed starting try filled with a fine seed starting mix like Berger BM-2. Wet soil with warm water. NOTE; Salvia is very sensitive to salt. Do not use water from a water softener. Sprinkle seeds on top of soil. Press in lightly. Do not cover. Cover dish or tray with a clear plastic wrap to keep soil from drying out. Germinate at 70°F, in light, but out of direct sunlight. After first true leaves appear, transplant into flats or pots. Grow at 55°-60°F, shading young plants from sunlight until established. Space plants 6-10" apart when transplanting outdoors.
