BEANS, BUSH TYPE SNAP                                                Approx. 1,500 seeds per pound.
Beans are among the richest food products which the good earth yields. In the chemistry of food,
they supply carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, and minerals. Beans are easy to grow, well suited
for different types of soil from heavy clay to light, sandy soils. Plant in early spring after frost
danger is past and soil has warmed up to at least 60F. Coat bean seed with a bean and pea
inoculant. Direct sow at 1-1.5" deep, 2-3" apart in a single row spaced 30-36" apart or a double
row spaced 8" apart. Keep weed free. Pick pods when filled out to a nice size before pods bulge.
TIP: We have found a way to increase your bean yield. Here is what we do: after bean plants are
about 4-6" high, we spread Bradfield fertilizer along the bean row at the rate of 4-6 pounds per
100' of row just before we till them. A trickle drip irrigation line is also laid along the row. Make
sure your bean plants get at least 1" of water per week. Do not over water, as bean plants drown
easy. After each picking we also give them some more water. Good luck.   You will need 1 pound
of seed per 100' row or 60 lbs/acre.

BLUE LAKE BUSH
58 days. Dark green, round pods are up to 6" long. Pods are borne on a large bush type plant that produces over a longer time then
most. Untreated seeds.

BRONCO PVP
53 days. Very similar to strike but its pods are medium, dark green and shiny. BCVM resistant. High yields. Treated seed.

CHARON
55 days. A Rogers variety with a medium, dark green, 6" long pod. Similar to Bronco. High yield potential tolerant to Halo Blight,
Bacterial Brown Spot, Curly Top Virus, and Bean Mosiac Virus race 8. Charon beans grow to the perfect quart jar length, have a
smooth texture and retain much of their crispness during processing resulting in a superior dilly bean.* Treated seed.

CONTENDERS
48 days. Popular and widely adaptive. Big yields of thick pods that are 5-7" long, medium green, tender and free of fiber.

54 days. A good choice for the home garden and the roadside market. Has good resistance to common mosaic virus. This
good yielding snap bean has dark green pods. White seeds. Untreated seed.

TENDERGREEN IMPROVED
54 days. Nearly round, dark green, tender and stringless pods are 5-6" long with a rich bean flavor. Untreated seed.

TOP CROP
50 days. This variety has been pleasing gardeners for a long time. 6" pods are medium green, straight and have a great
flavor.

WHITE HALF RUNNER
60 days. Half runner type bush plant. Pods are a medium, light green, almost round and stringless in the very young
stage. Maybe used as a shell bean when older. Untreated.

*=Dilly beans are pickled green beans with dill and Jalapeno peppers. They are used for putting in bloody mary drinks or just eating. Use "Ball blue
book" recipe, with the changes of leaving the ends on, use quart jars not pints, and substitute 2 ripe red jalapeno peppers for the dried cheyenne pepper.
