
AC GREENFIX PVP
AC Greenfix PVP is a new annual legume in the USA, develped as a fertilizer atlernative to supply
nitrogen for both organic and conventional growers. This plant is moisture efficient, resistant to
many insects and diseases, suitable for a variety of climates and soil types. Other benefits of
planting AC Greenfix PVP are; reduce fertilizer costs 75% or more, Increase yields (12% avarage),
weed flush can reduce chemical use, benefits soil for 3-5 years, etc. PLANTING; In early spring or
early fall, till up soil till fine and loose. Place seeds 1-3" deep at the rate of 50-60 lb per acre or 1
1/4 to 1 1/2 lb per 1,000 sq ft. At or before bloom stage can be tilled in as a green manure crop or
cut for hay. Not recommended for horses.
AUSTRAIN WINTER PEAS
Closely related to the garden pea. On fertile soil, the vines will reach a length of 4' or more.
Continues to grow all through the cold months. Bloom is a reddish purple resembling the sweet
peas. Plant in late fall at a rate of .5-1 LB per 1,000 sq. ft or 30-40 LB per acre. Till under following
spring.
BUCKWHEAT
The most popular cover crop there is. Rapidly builds up humus in your soil. You can grow up to 3
crops per year. PLANTING; past, sow at the rate of 2-3 LB per 1,000 sq. ft or 80 LB per acre. For a
green manure crop, till under when in bloom and sow next crop. If for grain, sow 90-110 days before
expected fall frost date. Harvest after a killing frost. Untreated seeds.
HAIRY VETCH
One of the better legumes for improving worn out soils or adding a natural nitrogen source. Will
stay green all winter long if weather is mild. PLANTING; Vetch does not require a fine seed bed.
Just a little loose soil is all that is needed. Sow vetch seeds, 40-60 days before expected killing frost
date. This will give it time to get established. Sow at the rate of 1.5 lbs per 1,000 sq. ft. or 60-65 lbs
per acre. In spring when vetch is 8-10" tall, till under. Untreated seed.
SOFT WINTER WHEAT
Plant in the fall for a green manure crop in the spring. Easy to grow. Sow at the rate of 4 lbs. per
1,000 square feet. To add nitrogen to the soil, plant with Austrain winter peas or hairy vetch.
Untreated seed.
WINTER RYE GRAIN
Popular green manure crop with farmers or gardeners. Rapid growth and maybe planted anytime
before ground freezes. PLANTING: Sow in the fall after all vegetables or crops have been
harvested. Sow at the rate of 3-6 lbs per 1,000 sq. ft or 130-260 lbs per acre. What does not sprout
in the fall will at the first warm snap. For green manure crop, till under in the spring when 12-18" tall.
For a grain crop. let mature. Thrash heads. Use for animal feed or grind into rye flour. Untreated.
